Lucas Bergvall made the right decision to sign for Tottenham Hotspur ahead of Barcelona, according to former club Djurgardens executives.
Djurgardens sporting director Bosse Andersson has confirm Barcelona are interest in signing Lucas Bergvall, but the 19-year-old midfielder made the right decision to join Tottenham Hotspur.

‘Lucas is an interesting and talented player. We had a chance to speak to one of the biggest clubs in Europe, Barcelona, who were interest. I think Barcelona were quite surprised [to miss out on signing him] because you don’t go to Barcelona, you just watch. You go there, have some tapas and see how beautiful it is. ‘
‘I think they were very disappoint that he chose Tottenham, but it was the right decision because he’s already establish himself in the Premier League. All the coaches and everyone talks about him as a great player and he’s only 19,’ Andersson said.
Persevering to sign the teenager, who was, according to Andersson, wined and dined by Barcelona in their attempt to convince him, displays the attraction Spurs can still provide, despite a lack of success.
Bergvall was barely two years old when Tottenham last won silverware, and unless Ange Postecoglou’s side can go all the way in the Europa League, he will reach his twenties with Spurs still trophyless.
His development has been one of the few positives this term, and as Tottenham prepare for a summer of upheaval in North London, Bergvall’s story could attract other promising youngsters to their cause.
